Cosmin Stan is one of the most well-known PRO TV News correspondents. He anchors the weekend morning news alongside Roxana Hulpe, every Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Additionally, Cosmin is a senior correspondent of the main newsroom in Bucharest. Along with Paula Herlo, he won the International Emmy for News in 2008, on behalf of PRO TV News, for three stories part of the campaign “Any idea of what your kid is doing right now”, the first Emmy ever won by a television network in Central and Eastern Europe.
In his current roles, he has a broad perspective on the most important topics of the day, with the advantage of covering news both as a field reporter and as a studio presenter. Stan is an enthusiast of live broadcasts and performed hundreds of live reports from some of the most significant events, both around the country and the world. He enjoys the action and adrenaline of live reporting, which has made him an expert of the so-called “happenings.” With the ability to focus on multiple things at once, self-control and boundless energy, he manages to recreate and convey to viewers the emotions and atmosphere at the heart of events, whether it is a natural disaster or a celebration. He had the privilege of delivering the most relevant information to Romanian viewers from the funerals of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and from the Coronation of King Charles III, live from London. He has been the only one out of the 6,000 accredited journalists at the ceremonies who managed to obtain a message for Romanians from the newly crowned King Charles. This was because Stan had the luck and inspiration to be in the right place at the right time and had the presence of mind, while broadcasting live, to address a question to His Majesty as he greeted the crowd. Cosmin also reported to Romanians, live from the scene, about the suffering of thousands of people affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey in February 2023. He closely followed the extraordinary efforts of firefighters in the battle against forest fires that engulfed the Greek island of Rhodes in the summer of 2023. He also put the Austrian Minister of the Interior in a difficult spot in Brussels, immediately after Austria opposed Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area in December 2022. The Austrian official had his bodyguards keep the PRO TV team at a distance and then left in a hurry when Cosmin asked him for his message to the Romanians, whom he had just denied the right to free movement. Stan has also done a great job covering the Romanian fans celebrations in Germany during EURO2024 and also reporting on the spectacular opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
Cosmin does an excellent job both in the field and in the studio, managing to convey essential, impactful information to people in an accessible and honest language. With the help of guests he often has in the studio, military experts or political analysts, he translates the latest developments in geopolitics for everyone, from the war in Ukraine to the European Union’s migrant crisis.
